The Human Rights Council convenes for 22nd session.
The council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.
The 22nd session will among other topics focus on the situation in the Middle East, especially the conflict in Syria and the Palestinian question, and the situation in Africa, especially Mali, Somalia and Sudan.
The council members will also discuss the ongoing UN peacekeeping missions, protection of civilians in armed conflict and threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.
