Barbados holds parliamentary elections after PM lost popularity

Barbados holds general elections for members of the House of Assembly. Such members appoint members to the country's parliament, which consists of two chambers and the senate.
The date was announced on January 31 by the country's Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, whose popularity has dropped significantly due to his handling of the Caribbean island's economy.
Stuart, who was appointed prime minister in October 2010 following the death of his predecessor David Thompson, seeks his first full term in the office.
