The Academy of Country Music Awards, held annually since 1966, honor the industry's accomplishments during the previous year.


Previous winners include Loretta Lynn in 1975, Dolly Parton in 1977, Barbara Mandrell in 1980, Reba in 1994, Shania Twain in 1999, Dixie Chicks in 2000 and Carrie Underwood in 2008 and 2009.


It is the first country music awards program held by a major organization. Originally the awards were presented in Los Angeles, but in 1993 the show shifted to Las Vegas. The presentation of the awards is broadcasted by CBS.
