The European Museum of the Year Award is awarded to a museum since 1977 can be attributed to two types of museums: museums existing in the past two years have been renewed or extended, and new museums in the last two years have been opened.
The award is presented annually by The European Museum Forum, the organization falls under the Council of Europe . The European Museum of the Year Award is an initiative set up by Kenneth Hudson. The winner gets one year for the work The egg of Henry Moore exhibition for disposal.
