The Emirates International Date Palm Festival takes place annually at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Around 17,000 visitors from the UAE and the region visit the exhibition every year. Five countries have their own national pavilions: Jordan, Iraq, Oman, Morocco, and Iran. The Festival also includes a host of activities such as date palm climbing, which is considered of the key heritage sport.
The Date Palm Festival experiences the “Testing Date Oasis”, where visitors have the opportunity to test dates from around the world and get to know more about them. The amateur competition allows photographers to present their date palm-centric photos and the best works are awarded at the end of the Festival.
The Festival has a “Heritage Village” that hosts various heritage and cultural activities with a view to preserve and educate visitors about the traditional lifestyle of the people of this country.
