As of today, public school districts implement their own policies to restrict electronic communication between teachers and students through text messages and e-mails.
The development is a result of the Missouri House of Representatives' revision of the initial Amy Hestir Student Protection Act that severely limits the use of text messages and other forms of electronic communication between teachers and their students.
According to the ammendment passed by the House of Representatives on 23rd September however, such a law must admit and respect the role of social media in promoting educative ends.
