California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, South Dakota and Democratic North Dakota Primaries
|
|
California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota hold both Republican and Democratic Primary Elections, while North Dakota holds its Democratic Primary.
The Primaries serve to select how many delegates each Republican and Democratic Presidential candidate receives.
As current President Barack Obama is the only serious Democratic candidate running for the Presidency, the Democratic Primaries are just pro forma.
The allocation of delegates to Presidential candidates depends on both the amount of votes each candidate gets and the states' laws concerning the allocation of delegates.
