Obama to be inaugurated into second term

In 2009, the inauguration ceremony saw a record breaking 1.8 attendees and performances from celebrities such as Stevie Wonder and Beyoncé.
Though the president's supporters were ecstatic at his electoral triumph, Obama won by a narrower margin than during the previous race, having lost several states he won four years ago.
The president now faces negotiations with a persistently hostile Republican leadership on Capitol Hill over the expiring Bush-era tax cuts and reforms on Medicare and immigration.
In his victory speech, Obama promised to take into account the bipartisan views on some of the US' most pressing issues. "Whether I've earned your vote or not, I've listened to you," he pledged.
