Allgier on trial for killing officer
Despite facing a possible death sentence, Allgier has been far from co-operative in the courtroom. In addition to several outbursts towards his attorneys, Allgier accused presiding Judge Paul Maughan of being senile and a drug-user. Allgier's defence subsequently filed an affidavit requesting the judge to be replaced since he could no longer be deemed impartial to the case. The request was dismissed by Judge Royal Hansen.
Allgier was already serving time for burglary, forgery and theft when he allegedly shot a correction officer during a visit to the hospital.
