The court hears witnesses in the case of Francis Nyaruri whose decapitated body was found in Kodera forest on January 15th 2009.

Nyaruri, an investigative reporter working for Weekly Citizen, had published a corruption and malfeasance story implicating Police Chief Njoroge Mwaura shortly before his brutal death. According to Nyaruri's father, his son started receiving threats from Mwaura soon after. Their family lawyer has been forced to go into hiding after receiving similar threats urging him to drop the case.

Despite the witnesses' accounts, Police Chief Mwaura has thusfar neither been heard nor charged.
