“The acquisition and regeneration of 24 F-16C/D aircraft … allows the government of Indonesia to significantly bolster air defense capacity without compromising the defense budget and other national priorities,” the White House said in a statement.
Congress should be informed of the sale in early 2012. The deal has been made by White House in August 2011.
By selling arms, the U.S. wants to strengthen its military posture as well that of its allies in the Asian Pacific region.
