Richard Gere receives the George Eastman Award for his achievements in the film industry and his commitments to charity.

He has supported the fight against HIV and AIDS for years and is founder of the Gere Foundation for the preservation of Tibetan culture.

Previous winners of the George Eastman Award, named after the founder of the Eastman Kodak company, are film maker Martin Scorsese and actress Meryl Streep.
