The Verizon iPhone is released today. This means AT&T loses its monopoly on the Apple Phone to Verizon.

With a two-year contract, the 16GB Verizon iPhone costs $199.00, and the 32GB costs $299. The new version features a WiFi hotspot capability, allowing up to five-web accessible devices to access the Internet through the phone. However, with the Verizon iPhone you cannot make phone calls while simultaneously using data applications.

Smartphone revenues will increase nearly 20 percent to more than $21 billion in 2012, as forecasted by the Consumer Electronics Association.
