World Fencing Championships 2013

The World Championship in Fencing takes place in Kiev, Ukraine.
It is a competition organized every year by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE or International Fencing Federation in English).
After the Olympics the World Championship is the most significant international tournament in fencing. Fencing weapons include men's foil, épée and sabre; women's foil, épée and sabre and both men's and women's team foil, épée and sabre.
Originally before it expanded to 'World', this was a European event. The first similar international competition organised by the FIE was held in Paris in 1921.
