Chris Huhne, former Secretary of Energy, is heard in court after being charged with obstructing the course of justice.

According to the investigating authorities, Huhne convinced his ex-wife Vicky Pryce to take the blame for a speeding offence he himself committed between March and May 2003. Authorities now claim there is enough evidence to prove Huhne, and not Pryce, was behind the wheel during the named offence.

Huhne handed in his resignation on February 3, arguing the court case would prove to be a distraction from his official duties, even though he insists on his innocence.
