The Belgian municipal elections take place every 6 years and since 2006 are organized by the country's regions instead of the federal government.


Belgian citizens and registered foreigners vote in the 308 municipalities of Flanders, the 262 municipalities of the Walloon region and the 19 municipalities of Brussels for their new local governments.
