Muslim cleric Aboud-Rogo Mohammed appears in court after his arrest in Mombasa at end of January this year.

Charged with possession of firearms, ammunition, hand grenades and detonators, the circumstances indicated that he was armed with intent to commit murder.

Aboud-Rogo has already appeared in court four times for similar offences; mainly due to the absence of a valid certificate for possession.

Rogo's past charges include participation in the 1998 attack on the U.S. embassy in Nairobi. In 2002, he was also arrested for the attack on Mombasa Paradise, an Israeli-owned hotel, but was acquitted from all charges. In 2010, he similarly escaped trial on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.
