The Supreme Court of Pakistan holds a hearing on the detention of eleven men by Pakistan's intelligence services ISI. The Court demands an explanation for their imprisonment by the ISI and how four of them died during custody.
Lawyers of ISI have argued that the men were being detained by the military under the Pakistan Army Act for their involvement in attacks on military sites in the Rawalpindi area.
Four of the eleven Pakistani died after being tortured by the intelligence services. During a court hearing on 14 February at least three of the seven men were not able to walk without physical support due to tortures by ISI.
The Supreme Court has handed them into permanent custody of the provincial government as long as no decision has been made in the court case.
The men were imprisoned in 2007 and put on trial for various armed attacks in the country. In May 2010, the Lahore High Court found them innocent due to a lack of evidence, but they curiously disappeared from jail on the day of their release.
