The World Oceans Summit, organised by The Economist, takes place at Capella, located on the island resort of Sentosa .

The focus of the summit is on the sustainable management of the expanding activities in and around the ocean. It also aims to examine the impact of such activities on various organisations and their stakeholders.

The summit's official chairman is John Micklethwait, who is the Editor-in-chief of The Economist. On the attendance list are over 200 global leaders with different backgrounds such as business, government, NGOs, international organisations, academia and think-tanks.
