Yerevan World Book Capital 2012 unites experts and professional from the region and all over the world and serves as an impetus to promote publishing and raise awareness that books can serve as a medium which encourages cultural, political, social and economic development.


The program of events anticipates the participation of national, regional and international institutions, as well as NGOs and relevant professionals in the sphere of writing and publishing.


World Book Capital is a title bestowed by UNESCO to a city in recognition of the quality of its programs to promote books and reading and the dedication of all players in the book industry.


The designation runs from UNESCO's World Book and Copyright Day (April 23) of one year until April 22 of the following year.
