'Cold Response' is a Norwegian led winter exercise, which is designed to rehearse the military's high intensity operations in severe winter conditions.
The air, land and maritime exercise is organised within NATO with a UN mandate.
Thousands of soldiers from Norway and Partnership for Peace countries take part in this training exercise. Partnership for Peace includes many countries, like Canada, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Switzerland, USA, Finland, Spain and Denmark.
In this join exercise, they practice handling different crisis scenarios, including high intensity warfare, terror threats and mass demonstrations.
