Patti Smith releases first original album in 8 years -
The Godmother of Punk releases a new album

The "Godmother of Punk" releases her 11th studio album, Banga. It is Patti Smith's first album of original material since 2004.


The album, Smith said, was influenced by her dreams and observations of an increasingly complex and chaotic world.  


The Album, which was recorded at Electric Lady Studio in New York City, features, amongst others, songs that were written in memory of Amy Winehouse and for Johnny Depp's birthday.


The first single of the album "April Fool" was released on 1 April on iTunes.
