World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates 2013

|
Nobel Peace Laureates convene annually during a three-day global summit. Attendees include high-profile leaders and non-for-profit organizations dedicated to the promotion of peace, justice and human rights.
The summit is chaired by former Soviet President and Nobel Peace Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev alongside the former mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni. Taking place since 1999, the idea for the summit was first proposed by Vadim Zagladin and the Gorbachev Foundation.
The event is organized since 2006 by the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, a non-for-profit organization based in both Rome and Moscow.
Every year the Peace Summit Award is presented in honour of the men or women from the world of culture and entertainment who have made outstanding contributions to the achievement of international social justice. Previous recipients include Sean Penn, Cat Stevens and Annie Lennox.
