The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) publishes the details of those organisations that have applied to buy web addresses ending in their own names.
Whereas organisation websites now have suffixes like .org or .com, ICANN offers companies the opportunity to adapt their web address to their own brand name resulting in suffixes like .pepsi or .tropicana.
Canon and Google have already announced they applied for new web addresses.
