Casey Anthony defamation trial begins
|
|
The recently acquitted Casey Anthony appears at court to face the accusation that she defamed Zenaida Gonzalez by linking her name to the kidnapping of her child, who was found dead in December 2008.
Anthony was cleared in 2011 of charge of murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee. However, she was found guilty on 4 counts of providing false information to police officers.
The accused stated that her nanny Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, who was announced missing in July 2008, abducted her child. The nanny was never located by the police.
The plaintiff Gonzalez, who was found by the authorities, says she has not met Anthony or Caylee.
The defence lawyers have used the fact that their client has not identified Gonzalez as the same woman, who she thought killed her daughter, in Anthony's defence.
