US and Colombia free trade deal takes effect

The free trade deal between the US and Colombia takes effect. Colombia's progress in worker protections and human rights has accelerated the implementation of the agreement.
Under the agreement, more than eighty percent of the consumer and industrial products from the US to Colombia will become duty free.
In addition to that, more than fifty percent of US agricultural goods to Colombia will be free of taxes. Most Colombian goods were already duty free in the US before this trade deal.
US President Obama signed the trade deal in October, but the US demanded Colombia to improve its workers' rights before the pact would take effect.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said the trade deal will create thousands or millions of jobs in the US and Colombia.
