Evidence against Karadzic completed

The prosecutors of the International Criminal Tribune for the former Yugoslavia complete their evidence against Radovan Karadzic.
The former President of Republika Srpska and the Supreme Commander of the Bosnian Serb armed forces is accused of war crimes against Bosnian Croats and Bosnian Muslims during the Bosnian War, which lasted from 1992 to 1995, amongst them genocide.
Karadzic allegedly initiated the Siege of Sarajevo, ordered the Srebrenica Massacre and commanded to take UN personnel hostage in May and June 1995.

After the prosecutors are finished, Karadzic can request the judges to be cleared at this stage of the trial. If rejected, Karadzic will be allowed to start his defence arguments. He has already asked for an interruption in the trial until March 2013 to prepare himself for the trial.
Currently, Karadzic is detained at the United Nations Detention Unit of Scheveningen, in the Netherlands.
