Prosecutor's Office asks to delay settlement evacuation

The State Prosecutor's Office of Israel asks the High Court of Justice to delay the planned evacuation of Ulpana, a neighborhood in the West Bank settlement of Beit El.
The Prosecutor's Office has been instructed by a ministerial committee, who will set up a special council to examine the issue in the meantime.
The ministers gathered on 23 April to discuss the matter, but they could not agree on the case of Ulpana.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Ya'alon said the neighbourhood should not be evacuated, while Minister of Defense Ehud Barak wants the Israeli government to move Ulpana's residents to an alternative location in Beit El.
Ya'alon has said that the evacuation of Ulpana may lead to a coalition crisis and the collapse of Israel's government.
Earlier, the same minister committee decided to legalize the West Bank settlements of Rechalim, Bruchin and Sansana.
