UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, visits Burma to encourage further democratic reforms in the country.
“Myanmar is only at the beginning of its transition and many challenges lie ahead, many concerns have yet to be addressed yet I am convinced that we have an unprecedented opportunity to help the country advance towards a better future,” said Ban Ki-moon.
During his third trip to the country, Ban Ki-moon emphasizes the role of the UN in helping the country in its transition towards "reopening to the world". Among the most important topics to be discussed is the plight of ethnic refugees in border areas.
