US Supreme Court decides on immigration law -
US Supreme Court
Wikipedia-Bob McNeely, ...
The US Supreme court rules on the legality of controversial Arizona SB1070 immigration law.

The law requires officials in Arizona to check the immigration status of anyone they believe to be in the country illegally.

SB1070 has been introduced due to an illegal immigration emergency in 2010. Thousands of Mexican and Central American immigrants were using Arizona's deserts to enter the country.

Critics of the law have since its introduction claimed it undercut federal immigration rules and increased racial profiling.

Variations of the Arizona law have been adopted by five other states; Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, South Carolina and Utah thus await the outcome of the Supreme Court case, while parts of their immigration laws have been put on hold.
