Resumption trial of leaders military coup Turkey

The Court resumes the trial of the two leaders of the military coup of 1980.
The Court decided to adjourn the trial at the previous hearing on April 6 in order to seek the advice of medical authorities, to determine whether the two men would be able to answer questions via video conference, or appear in court with a medical escort.
At the previous hearings, both retired generals were absent. Kenan Evren, age 94, and Tahsin Sahinkaya, 86, are not able to travel due to their age and poor health.
Evren and Sahinkaya are charged with crimes against the state. If found guilty, both face a life sentence.
It is Turkey's first trial involving the 1980 military coup.
