European Parliament committee meetings

European Parliament's Committees usually meet once or twice a month, in the weeks that follow the Parliament Plenary Session in Strasbourg.
 
Committees' core task is to prepare the legislative work for the Parliament's plenary session. This work is then finalized at the plenary session and allows the Members of Parliament to adopt legislative resolutions. 

The European Parliament has 20 standing committees and 2 subcommittees. Each is responsible for a particular area of European community policy, such as foreign affairs, environment, development, etc.
