US likely to offer Chen Guangcheng asylum -

The US is likely to offer the Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng asylum. According to the rights group ChinaAid, China and the US aim to reach a deal before the arrival of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton later this week.


Chen escaped house-arrest on April 22 and allegedly fled to the US Embassy in Bejing, putting an end to what he has described as over 20 months of beatings and harassment by local officials.
