Uganda likely to pass law limiting assembly freedom

Uganda's parliament is likely to pass a law that could make it extremely difficult for activists and opposition members to assemble or hold political rallies.
The law would require the organizers of political rallies to apply for permission in writing from the local police chief before staging any public event.
According to critics, the bill is being used to stifle the growing opposition to Uganda's sitting president Yoweri Museveni, one of the world's longest serving rulers.
