The Sao Paulo Summer/Spring (s/s) Fashion Week is the most important fashion event in Latin America.

Initiated in 1996, it was initially known as 'Morumbi Fashion Brazil' until it was renamed in January 2001.

In the past, the SPFW has been a center of a controversy regarding the ethnicity of models used on the runaway. According to a 2009 report, the organizers were required to select a number of "black or indigenous" amounting to at least 10 percent.

The event frequently takes place in aid of charity organizations and has gradually become known as "Latin America's pre-eminent fashion event."

It was during the early editions of the SPFW that models Gisele Bundchen and Isabeli Fontana were discovered.
