Italian director and screenwriter, Francesco Rosi, who is an honourable 89 years old, is awarded a Golden Lion for his lifetime achievements in film-making at the Venice Film festival.
Many of Rosi's movies have also been widely recognised for their merits; Salvatore Giuliano with a Silver Bear in Berlin 1961, Hands over the City - a Golden Lion in 1963 and The Mattei Affair, which received a Golden Palm at Cannes in 1972.
