The Utah-based Alliant Techsystems (ATK) expects Liberty to launch US astronauts in the course of 2015.

Liberty is a rocket launcher created by ATK from parts of US space shuttle and Ariane, the world's dominant rocket launcher that is produced in Europe.  


Speaking on behalf of ATK, Kent Rominger said that the US is currently not able to launch US astronauts, but buys rides on Soyuz rockets instead. 

 

Liberty was developed using NASA advice and expertise.
