Romania introduces progressive income tax
The Romanian government led by Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, replaces its flat income tax with a progressive one.
"We will introduce what we consider to be the most important measures, including the differential tax rates, of 8, 12 and 16 percent," said Ponta.
The maximum tax level thus remains at 16 percent, while the income tax for low salaries is reduced in order to protect the weak classes.
