Tymoshenko's appeal trial to begin after series of delays

The appeal hearing of Ukraine's former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko against her abuse-of-office conviction is due to begin after being adjourned numerous times.
The latest hearing was due to take place on April 28, but was postponed once again after Tymoshenko refused to attend the hearings, citing poor health.
All the previously scheduled sessions have been postponed due to Tymoshenko's absence from the hearing, which her defence also justified with poor health.
Tymoshenko's lawyers have insisted since her conviction that the judge is acting on the wishes of high political officials.
The EU, standing behind Tymoshenko, has condemned the conviction as well as her alleged mistreatment in prison.
