Greece holds new legislative elections

Greece holds new legislative elections after negotiations between party leaders aimed at forming a coalition government failed. Last elections were held on May 6 but none of the parties had enough seats to form a single party government.
According to the Greek Constitution, the President is to dissolve the elected parliament if all attempts to form a government are unsuccessful and call for new legislative elections within 30 days.
Analysts consider the Greece's elections as a de facto referendum by which the Greek electorate chooses whether the country is to stay in the Eurozone. Crisis-stricken Greece has received a 130-bn euros bailout in return for the implementation of drastic austerity measures.
From the beginning of the year Greece has implemented many unpopular measures such as health budget cuts, wage cuts and faced numerous large-scale protests and strikes.
