JPMorgan's chairman faces calls for resignation

The chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of JPMorgan Chase & Co., James Dimon is to face calls to give up his chairmanship, following the dramatic loss-making of the bank's trading unit in London.
California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), supported by other major pension funds in New York, California and Florida, will call for a split of the functions of chairman and CEO. The reason is the believe that the split would lead to better risk controls.
"CalPERS believes if the chairman was independent the board may be able to exercise stronger oversight of management," the organization stated, setting out its voting intentions.
