Somalian federal Parliament sworn in

A new Somalian federal Parliament is sworn in as part of a deal agreed by leaders of disparate Somali factions.
The historic deal, reached on May 24, resulted in a new draft constitution, turning the divided country into a federal state.
The 225 Members of the new Parliament, half the number of the former Parliament, are selected by a group of elders.
The leaders taking part in the deal are current interim President Sharif Sheikh Amed, the interim Prime Minister, the parliamentary speaker, the regional leaders of Galmudug and Puntland, and a representative of the pro-government group al-Sunna Wal Jama's.
The self-declared independent state of Somaliland, in the northern part of Somalia, has rejected the deal.
Hardline Islamists of the militant group al-Shabaab, which controls large parts of central Somalia, did not take part in the agreement either.
