Spanish PM announces austerity package before Congress

Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy appears before Congress to explain the Spanish bank loan. According to government sources the date was chosen as to follow the formal request for a loan submitted to Eurogroup by Spain.
The purpose of the extraordinary plenary session was to provide information regarding the European Council (28-29 June). However, the prime minister is using the occasion to announce the new package of austerity measures to be implemented in Spain.
On 21 June 2012 Spain asked for a 100,000 loan to capitalize its banks.
This is not the first time the Spanish prime minister is asked to give an account of the state of affairs of Spanish banks. Rajoy also received an invitation to talk about the Spanish crisis during the G20 summit in Los Cabos, Mexico.
