An audit of the Spanish banks, showing how much money they need to be recapitalized, is completed.
According to rumours, a total amount of €60 billion to €70 billion is needed to clean up several banks involved in real estate assets.
The audit was a main condition for the financial aid package of €100 billion from the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) and the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).
Carried out by consulting firms Oliver Wyman and Roland Berger, the audit was supposed to be completed on June 21.
However, Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy decided to bring forward the deadline in order to have it ready during the G20 Summit on June 18-19.
