Leveson inquiry's participants comment on Leveson quitting story

Lord Justice Leveson, the head of the inquiry that carries his name, has asked "core participants" in the inquiry to comment on a newspaper story that claimed that he had threatened to quit.
The Mail on Sunday (MoS) stated that Leveson threatened to quit the inquiry following a comment made by Education Secretary Michael Gove, telling the press about "a chilling atmosphere towards freedom of expression which emanates from the debate around Leveson."
Lord Justice Leveson refused to make a comment on MoS's story, however, it is said that he was extremely unhappy with its publication. First there was an attempt on his side to convene a special session of the inquiry, yet soon he leant that it was impossible since the inquiry was out of session. He then decided to convene a meeting in which he is expected to ask a few participants in the inquiry to make a comment on the story.
"Core participants" are person who are considered to have played a "direct and significant role" in matters relating to the inquiry. Amongst them, media organisations and MPs can be found.
