The annual gay parade Sofia Pride marches on the streets of the Bulgarian capital.


The parade was held for the first time on 28 June in 2008. This matches with the date of the Stonewall riots that took place in New York City in 1969.


The first LGBT rights non-profit organisation to be found in Bulgaria is BGO Gemini. The main organisation at the moment is Action.
