|
In order to provide high-standard security during the Olympics the authorities are stationing missiles at six locations around London and its outskirts despite the recent citizens' protests against the decision.
A 1000 people living in London have issued a petition against the positioning of the rockets and the Hight Court is expected to announce its verdict on 9 July.
However, the reason for the measures comes from the increased terrorism threats, which makes everyone concerned for the safety of the city.
The special air defence systems include high-velocity systems and rapier and even HMS Ocean helicopter carrier, which will be moored in the Thames river.
Additionally, RAF Typhoon jets are placed at RAF Northoli, while Puma helicopters will be at a Territorial Army centre in Ilford.
