The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body that provides a formal platform for the representatives of Europe's socio-occupational interest groups to express their points of view regarding current EU issues. 


The committee has 344 members and meets in plenary session nine times a year. During the plenary session the members discuss and adopt opinions, draft reports and issue resolutions.
