Merkel on first official visit to Indonesia

German Chancellor Angela Merkel makes her first official visit to Indonesia to hold talks with the country's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Indonesian business leaders.
The two leaders will announce a comprehensive partnership which will mark a new vision for the bilateral relationship focusing on cooperation between Germany and Indonesia.
"Bilateral meetings between the President and Chancellor will focus on better cooperation on some prioritized sectors: Mainly on trade and investment, education, research and technology, health and defense industry," said Teuku Faizasyah, a member of the president’s staff for international relations.
During her trip, Merkel will also visit the site of the country's tsunami early-warning system, built with German assistance, as well as the Kalibata Hero Cemetery, Immanuel Protestant Church in Gambir and Istiqlal mosque.
