British Army provides extra security during Olympics

Despite the Olympic Committee's previous insistence that it would be able to guarantee security, the British Army contributes an extra 3,500 soldiers to supervise the Olympic Games.
Earlier, private security company G4S, which was paid nearly £300 million to guard the Games, stated they might not have the capacity to oversee the tournament, with some of their men still in training.
The military has already supplied close to 13,000 officers to guard the Olympic Games. Around 1,000 guards will be on standby in case of an emergency.
